Bollywood playback icon Shaan to perform live in Kathmandu on Saturday
The singer will perform more than 40 songs in what organisers say will be an almost non-stop show.Post Report
Renowned Indian playback singer Shaan will take the stage at Club Nova tomorrow. The event, ‘Shaan Live in Nepal’, is being brought to the capital by Nepali Touch.
The singer landed in Kathmandu today and will depart on Sunday after his performance. Gates at the venue open at 7 pm, with the show following shortly after.
Shaan will be backed by his own touring band, and audiences can expect a marathon performance. “He will sing more than 40 songs,” said Saugat Regmi, owner of Nepali Touch. “It’s almost a non-stop show; there are no breaks in between, and it will run about two to two-and-a-half hours.”
Describing what Nepali fans can expect from the singer, Regmi said Shaan has a reputation for warmth and stage presence that resonates with local audiences. “He is a generous person, and he’s easily communicative on stage,” he said. “He will open with a Nepali song.”
For the Nepali audience, the concert carries an added layer of nostalgia.
Shaan, known for hits like ‘Chand Sifarish’ (Fanaa), ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’ (Saawariya), ‘Hey Shona’ (Ta Ra Rum Pum), and ‘Suno Na’, who rose to fame in the 1990s, remains one of Bollywood’s most recognisable voices, known for a string of hits across three decades of playback singing.
