Writer Subin Bhattarai’s new story collection, ‘Chameliko Phool Baijani Rumal’, has been released. The book was launched at the Nepal Academy Dabali on Friday by the author and one of his readers, Rashmila Thapa, who had travelled from Chitwan specifically to attend the event.
At the event, writer Bhattarai said, “Even though the title highlights purple, the stories contain every shade. Each story has splashes of different colours, and every character appears in their distinct hue.”
He was the only speaker at the event and said that these stories resulted from his ambition for cinema. “My fascination with films began in childhood, and as I grew older, that love matured with me. The viewer within me began to dream of making films,” he said. “Even though I lacked the courage and skills to make a film, I was determined to write stories that could feel vivid and cinematic. These colourful stories are the outcome of that same ambition and desire.”
Bhattarai, who entered the literary scene with his story collection ‘Kathaki Patra’, has previously published novels including ‘Saya’, ‘Summer Love’, ‘Monsoon’, ‘Priya Sufi’, and ‘Ijoria’.
His latest collection, ‘Chameliko Phool Baijani Rumal’, has been published by FinePrint.
