Nepathya unites diaspora in Pittsburgh
With Nepali and Bhutanese flags waving, the band’s concert celebrated shared roots.

Nepathya’s USA tour continued with a Saturday night performance at Pittsburgh’s Roxian Theatre. As always, the band’s song ‘Rato Ra Chandra Surya’ and waves of Nepali flags energised the venue—but this time, the Bhutanese flag also appeared, carried by resettled Bhutanese refugees.
Lead singer Amrit Gurung addressed the crowd, urging unity: “Never forget the past, but forgive and move forward. Let this shared language connect all Nepalis across the world.”
The concert opened with ‘Koshiko Pani’ and moved into crowd favourites like ‘Bhedako Oon Jasto’ and ‘Chhekyo Chhekyo’. The audience included 73-year-old Peggy Sterling, originally from Germany, who attended out of curiosity and loved the music despite not understanding the language.
Gurung encouraged the youth to preserve the Nepali language and invited everyone to visit Nepal.
The band now heads to Chicago (June 7), Boston (June 11), and Greensboro, North Carolina (June 14) to wrap up their tour.
