WOW Festival from November 23
The two-day fest celebrates women, girls, and non-binary individuals.Post Report
The Women of the World (WOW) Festival will take place in Kathmandu from November 23 to 24, 2024. Organised by the British Council in partnership with the WOW Foundation, this two-day festival celebrates the achievements of women, girls, and non-binary individuals while addressing the challenges they face worldwide.
WOW 2024 will feature a lineup of events, including talks, film screenings, live music, theatre performances, workshops, mentoring sessions, and activities for children. The organisers say the festival creates an inclusive environment for conversations, storytelling, and artistic expression.
This year’s festival is hosted by Kathmandu Metropolitan City and made possible through collaborations with organisations and individuals from Nepal and the UK. Events will be held at the Nandi Keshar Bagaincha and Nandi Secondary School.
The WOW Festival began in Kathmandu in 2017 and aims to raise awareness about gender equality, provide a platform for women and girls, and build a global community of allies. Since its inception, WOW has been held in various locations, including Kathmandu, Janakpur, and Lumbini, as well as virtual editions during the pandemic.
