On the occasion of the 36th Foundation Day of St Xavier’s College and the 65th Annual Anniversary of Tribhuvan University, a book titled, ‘Life is (not) a tale’, authored by Fr Dr Augustine Thomas SJ, the Principal of St Xavier’s College, Maitighar was launched.

The book was jointly released in the college by the Regional Superior of Nepal Jesuit Society, Fr Amrit Rai SJ, one of the college’s founding members, Nirmal Krishna Shrestha, and alumnus and former Miss Nepal Sadichha Shrestha.

According to one of the book reviewers, Fr James Amakatt, SJ, the book will help readers “know themselves” and be contemplative.

The book, which was in the making for over a decade, collects recollections of Principal Thomas’s life and experiences.

The author said at the event, “Being involved in the holistic development of young people in college, I became part of their struggles, questions, and confusions about life, God, purpose, relationships, family, and more. As I listened, it became clearer how similar many people’s struggles are in pursuing a purposeful life.”

Drawing from his experiences, he added that ‘Life Is (not) a Tale’ highlights key points about life’s journey and offers small steps to incorporate happiness into it.

On the occasion, Sadichha Shrestha, former Miss Nepal and college alumnus, reflected on her time as a student and congratulated Principal Thomas on his book launch.

The college also felicitated Xavierian Dip Prakash Pandey for contributing to the College Management Committee (CMC).

The celebration included cultural performances and the release of college journals.
