According to police, Raju Manandhar of Jhonche beat his brother Gautam to death with a hammer following a dispute over selling a piece of their land. The Manandhar family had already accepted an advance amount from the prospective buyer but Gautam was against selling the land which caused friction among the two brothers leading to the homicide.
The Manandhar brothers were active in community works in their area.
Raju then contacted his friend Ganapati Lal Shrestha and met him at Tahachal-based Jana Jyoti Secondary School and informed him about the incident. Raju then asked Shrestha to take him to the Jana Sewa Police. Shrestha took Raju to the police station at 10pm on Wednesday and the police went to Gautam’s room to investigate and gather evidence of the incident at around 1:30am the same night.
The Jana Sewa Police have presented the murder accused at the Kathmandu District Court and lodged a murder case against him.
