Coordinator of the ‘Naya Shakti’ campaign Baburam Bhattarai has launched a scathing attack on UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, accusing him of colluding with foreign agencies.
Writing on his Facebook page on Monday night, the former Maoist ideologue bashed Dahal for attempting to discredit his ‘Naya Shakti’ campaign. “Instead of linking us with ‘external forces’, you [Dahal] should clarify your own ties with foreign agents,” said Bhattarai in the nine-point questionnaire he posed to Dahal without naming him.
“What shall we call your tendency to indulge in the despicable game for power and money in the guise of Marxism, if not dogmato-opportunism?” he questioned Dahal. Earlier, the Maoist chief had brushed aside Bhattarai’s campaign saying “things are not what they seem to be” which the campaigners say is an attempt to defame the movement.
Bhattarai, who quit the party in September, also criticised Dahal for holding the Maoist reins for 26 years, “garnering support from foreign power centres for the prime minister’s post and jeopardising the People’s Movement”. He asked Dahal if he could explain the reason for his Delhi visit before constitution promulgation. “How can you escape without giving a clear-cut answer on why the people and nation are compelled to endure the present suffering?” he further asked.
