Senior Chinese officials arriving
Chen Fengxiang, vice minister at the International Department of the CPC Central Committee that looks after South Asia, is arriving in Kathmandu on MondayChen will hold series of meetings with top political leaders and government officials during his stay in Kathmandu. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang is arriving in Kathmandu on December 25 for a three-day visit that is prelude for high-level visits between the two countries next year, diplomatic sources said.
These two visits are taking place at a time when Chinese leadership is stressing better neighborhood policy and Nepal and China are marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year. The Chinese side has actively been pursuing comprehensive partnership of cooperation based on the five principles of peaceful co-existence.
Informed government sources said series of high-level visits from northern neighbour is to pursue new neighborhood policy which was recently stressed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Similarly, two high-level Chinese teams, including one representing the China Institutes for Contemporary International Relations, are also arriving in Kathmandu. Another team of security officials is also scheduled to arrive and meet with Home Ministry officials regarding Wang’s visit.
