The umbrella organisation of lawyers reminded the CJ that independence of judiciary was compromised after Khil Raj Regmi assumed the post of executive while retaining that of CJ.

The organisation called on CJ Shah also to ensure that lawyers are appointed at the time of district court judges’ hiring. During a meeting, NBA General Secretary Sunil Pokharel urged head of judiciary to ensure that benches are convened on time. As well as calling for timely writing of verdicts, the NBA urged the CJ to allocate separate time to judges. CJ Shah in his parliamentary confirmation had pledged to provide written text of verdict within 15 days.
Citing inconsistencies in apex court verdicts, the Bar has called for uniformity. It has urged for curbing corruption in judiciary and check on the role of “middlemen”.
