Four Sherpa sisters from the same family summit Carstensz Pyramid in Seven Summits quest
With this achievement, they have now climbed five of the Seven Summits
Post Report
Four Sherpa siblings have reached the summit of Carstensz Pyramid (4,884m), the highest peak in Oceania, to set a record for the most sisters to climb the highest mountains on all seven continents.
According to Mingma G, managing director of Imagine Nepal Treks, Nima Jangmu, Tshering Namgya, Dawa Futi, and Chhiri Aangjum—the daughters of Rinzin Doma Sherpa and the late Dorjee Sherpa—successfully summited Carstensz Pyramid on Sunday.
With this achievement, they have now climbed five of the Seven Summits, leaving only Mt. Denali (North America) and Mt. Vinson Massif (Antarctica) to complete their challenge.
The Seven Summits include—Everest (Asia), Denali (North America), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Vinson Massif (Antarctica), Aconcagua (South America), Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania) and Elbrus (Europe).
Nima Jangmu, Tshering Namgya, and Dawa Futi already hold the record for being the most sisters to climb Everest together in 2021.
“Their father, Dorjee, was a renowned mountaineering guide who suffered severe frostbite during a 1983 Everest expedition, losing eight fingers. Despite this, he continued guiding climbers on smaller peaks,” said Mingma G.
“Though he never fulfilled his dream of summiting Everest, his daughters are determined to honour his legacy by completing the Seven Summits challenge.”
Chhiri Aangjum, the eldest sister, joined the journey from Aconcagua onward and has now climbed Carstensz Pyramid. She plans to summit Kilimanjaro and Elbrus in March-April, followed by Everest in April-May, aiming to complete the Seven Summits alongside her sisters.
Once accomplished, they will become the first four sisters from the same family to climb Everest together and complete the Seven Summits, inspiring women worldwide to pursue their dreams against all odds.
