Heavy rainfall overnight triggered flooding in the Tinkar river in ward 1 of Byas Rural Municipality, Darchula, destroying a road and a wooden bridge connecting Changru and Tinkar villages.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Lili Bahadur Chand of Armed Police Force, Battalion 44, said the flood struck around 8pm. He added that Nampa Bridge and Chamling river Bridge were also swept away.
Local resident Mohan Tinkri said 300–400 metres of the Changru–Tinkar road were washed away, cutting off access to Tinkar. Sudden surges in the nearby rivers have also disrupted mobile services.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dahal of the District Police Office, Darchula, said the overall situation in the village remains under control, and police have been deployed to assess the damage.
