Five people were killed in two separate jeep accidents in Bajhang on Thursday night.

The first incident occurred at around 8:30pm when a jeep, en route to Chainpur from Talkot Rural Municipality skidded off the road and fell 200 metres down at Sukgad in ward 2 of Talkot Rural Municipality. Four people lost their lives in the crash.

The deceased have been identified as jeep driver Shumsher Malla, 33, of ward 1 of Kedarseu Rural Municipality; Bam Bahadur Dhami, 36; Jogeni Devi Dhami, 72; and five-year-old child, all from Talkot Rural Municipality-4.

Police Inspector Lokendra Singh Thagunna said that three victims, including the driver, died at the scene, while the child died en route to the district headquarters for treatment.

In another accident at around 9pm, a jeep, travelling from Bhatekhola to Ranada in Masta Rural Municipality plunged 100 metres off the road at Kotdewal. The 42-year-old driver Dharma Thapa died on the spot, according to Assistant Police Inspector Jaya Bahadur Danga.
