Four people were injured, and six animals were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in Baitadi district, police said.
According to the District Police Office, the incident occurred in ward 2 of Shivanath Rural Municipality. Lightning struck the house of local Gopal Damai at around 11am on Saturday, injuring his 35-year-old wife, Pawani Damai; 20-year-old daughter-in-law, Kavita Damai; 13-year-old son, Lok Damai; and 11-year-old daughter, Laxmi Damai.
The injured are receiving treatment at DS Polyclinic in Patan, said Baitadi police spokesperson Balaram Pandey. He said that a cow belonging to Gopal Damai was also killed in the incident.
In another incident in ward 6 of Surma Rural Municipality, lightning killed five animals.
