The Khalanga-Gokuleshwar road section of the Mahakali Highway has been blocked since Tuesday morning following a landslide.

Mudslides have occurred at multiple locations from Panebaj to Arichhana of the road section, police said.

Darchula District Police Office said the traffic has come to a grinding halt with vehicles plying on different routes stranded.

Ganesh Singh Dhami, a resident of Panebaj, said passengers have been facing hassles as even short-distance vehicles have been stranded due to frequent mudslides.

He said an excavator from Baitadi road division has been deployed to clear the debris, adding it will take some hours for the traffic to resume.
