Two persons died and two have gone missing in separate landslides triggered by incessant rains in Bajura district on Tuesday.
According to police, a landslide at Budhinanda Municipality claimed the life of a 55-year-old woman while a three-year-old died in another landslide that occurred at Chhdedaha Rural Municipality Ward No 5.
Two persons, a 5-year-old girl and a 60-year-old woman, were injured in the Chhededaha landslide.
Meanwhile, the locals of Budhinanda Municipality Ward No 2, have been shifted to a safe location following floods at Dhupagad Khola.
In another landslide that occurred in Bungal Municipality in Bajhang on Tuesday night, two people have gone missing while four others were injured.
According to police, the landslide that occurred at around 1:15am last night, swept away one house.
“A 14-year-old and a 5-year-old have gone missing in the natural disaster. Four people trapped in the landslide debris were rescued with the help of the locals and police,” said DSP Ganesh Bam. “All the injured are receiving treatment at Khiratdi-based health post.”
A search and rescue operation is underway, said police.
Suresh Kunwar, a local, informed that 15 houses in the area are at high risk of being swept away by landslides. A week ago, the locals had informed the local authorities including the ward and the municipal office about the landslide risk in the area.
