Subash Tamang climbs to the top of Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship

Subash Tamang moved to the top of the leader board after the third round of the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, the final event under Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025-26, at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Thursday.
Tamang, who plays in the DP World PGTI Tour in India, carded a bogey-free 7-under 65 for a 54-hole total score of 15-under 201.
Tamang took the turn at 4-under 32 with birdies on the first, third, fifth and ninth holes. He then added three more birdies on the 11th, 12th and 17th holes for 3-under 33 on the back nine. He is one stroke ahead of former leader Bhuvan Nagarkoti, who carded 1-under 71 in the third round for a total score of 14-under 202.
Nagarkoti, who led the first two rounds, carded 2-under 34 on the front nine with birdies on the third and sixth holes. But he played 1-over 37 on the back nine after he faced two bogeys on the 10th and 18th holes against a lone birdie on the 16th hole.
Another PGTI player Sukra Bahadur Rai and amateur golfer Sadbhav Acharya are tied for third at 12-under 204. Rai carded his third consecutive 4-under 68, while Acharya played 1-under 71.
Rai carded 4-under 32 on the front nine. He carded five birdies on the third, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth holes against a lone bogey on the eighth hole. After the turn, Rai dropped shots on the 11th and 13th holes against birdies on the 12th and 14th holes for even-par 36 on the back nine.
Acharya, who is on a break from the NCAA Division-1 in the United States, had a rollercoaster round with four bogeys and a double bogey against five birdies and an eagle. He took the turn at 1-over 37. He birdied the first and third holes before facing bogeys on the fourth and fifth holes. He carded a birdie on the seventh hole but suffered a double bogey on the eighth hole. Acharya then sank an eagle on the 11th and carded birdie on the 13th and 18th holes. But he settled for 2-under 34 after bogeys on the 12th and 16th holes.
Meanwhile, defending champion amateur golfer Rahul Bishwakarma is fifth at 10-under 206 after he carded 4-under 68.
Amateur golfer Tenzing Tsering is sixth at 7-under 209, while another amateur Wangchen Dhondup is seventh at 5-under 211. Both Tenzing and Wangchen carded 2-under 70 in the third round. Pro Dinesh Prajapati is eighth at 2-under 214, while Niraj Tamang and Sanjay Lama are tied for ninth at 1-under 215. Dinesh and Niraj carded 1-under 71, while Sanjay played 1-over 73.
A total of 68 golfers, including 46 pros and 22 amateurs, are taking part in the flagship event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour.
