Arjun Kulung Rai has continued his dominance in the 100 miler at the Manjushree Trail Race (MTR) after winning the sixth edition on Friday. It was his fourth time winning the 100 miler at the MTR.
Around 60 runners, including Arjun, the defending champion, were present at the starting line of the 100 miler when the race kicked off in Pataleban at 6am on Friday.
The MTR 100-mile race course is one of the toughest routes in the country. It runs around the Kathmandu Valley, along its rim and through the forests with a cut-off time of 52 hours. It means the runners keep running even in the dark.
Meanwhile, with almost half of the allocated time left, runners had started arriving at the finishing line after running for 165 kilometres through the picturesque nature of the hills surrounding the bustling Kathmandu Valley.
Arjun completed the race at 26 hours 37 minutes 49 seconds. It was his second-fastest finish at the MTR.
When Arjun won the 100 miler in the second edition in 2022, he clocked at 31 hours 10 minutes 57 seconds. He did not participate in 2023. Upon his return in 2024, he won the 100 miler after finishing first at 26 hours 52 minutes 56 seconds.
His best finish of the 100-mile was in 2025 when he clocked 26 hours 29 minutes 25 seconds.
Arjun was followed by Milan Kulung Rai in the sixth edition. Milan crossed the finishing line after running for 27 hours 5 minutes 18 seconds. Similarly, Bijay Rana Magar and Shaktiram Roka finished third and fourth, respectively.
