Nepal will host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier from January 12 to February 2, 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday.
The 21-day global qualifier will feature 10 teams competing across two venues—Lower Stadium and Upper Stadium—in Mulpani.
Of the 10 teams, five have already been confirmed. Bangladesh and Scotland qualified based on their performances in the 2024 edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup, which was won by New Zealand in Dubai.
The United States secured their place in the global qualifier by winning the Americas Qualifier, hosted by Argentina in March this year.
Nepal progressed to the global qualifier as runners-up of the Asia Qualifier, held in Thailand in May. Thailand claimed the top spot, with Asia allocated two qualification slots, compared to just one for the Americas.
Two slots each have also been allocated to Europe and Africa, with one for the East Asia-Pacific (EAP) region. The regional qualifiers for Europe, Africa, and EAP will be hosted by the Netherlands, Namibia, and Fiji, respectively, in August and September.
Only four of the 10 teams in the global qualifier will secure a place at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
The global qualifier will feature two groups of five teams each, followed by a Super Six stage and then the Final.
“The full tournament schedule will be announced in due course,” the ICC stated.
Regarding the main event in England and Wales, the tournament will span 24 days, with 33 matches played across seven venues—Old Trafford (Manchester), Headingley (Leeds), The Ageas Bowl (Southampton), and the Bristol County Ground, among others.
