Nepal suffered a 3-2 defeat against Bangladesh in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship on Sunday, conceding a decisive goal in the final moments of the match.
Bangladesh’s Trishna Rani Sarkar struck in the eighth minute of second-half injury time, leaving Nepal stunned after they had fought back from two goals down to level the score.
The match, held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka, saw both teams reduced to ten players each in the second half. Bangladesh took the lead in the 13th minute through Sinha Jahan Sikha and doubled it in the 36th minute via Sagorika.
Nepal responded with Anu Rai scoring from the penalty spot, followed by Meena Deuwa netting the second goal to make it 2-2. But Nepal ultimately failed to contain Bangladesh’s final attack.
Earlier, Bhutan secured a dominant 5-0 win over Sri Lanka. Sangay Yangmo and Kelden Yangmo scored two goals each for Bhutan, while Namsel Yangmo added another. Bhutan had already established a 3-0 lead by half-time.
