First Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Tournament kicks off in Nepal

The first edition of the Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Tournament kicked off at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground between six teams on Saturday.
The T20 tournament was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, British Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn, and South Asia Division chief at Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Gahendra Rajbhandari.
The six teams participating in the tournament are the Indian Embassy (host), the British Embassy, the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), MoFA, Corporate XI, and the Indian Diaspora.
The tournament, which will take place for four days, saw the Indian Embassy facing MoFA in the first game on Saturday. The Indian Embassy won it by nine wickets.
MoFA, batting first, posted 147/7 in 20 overs. In return, the Indian Embassy chased it with five overs to spare.
Corporate XI defeated FNJ in the other game of the day. Batting first, Corporate posted a mammoth total of 185/8 in the first inning. FNJ could only reach 117/9 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 68 runs.
