Gorkhali Rugby Club has won the title of the first Gorkhali Rugby Sevens. In a competitive final held at the Krishnapur Sports Ground in Bharatpur, Gorkhali Rugby defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by a score of 12-7.

The match ended in a 7-7 draw at the end of regulation time. Gorkhali secured the victory in extra time through a golden score by their captain, Yadu Adhikari.

With the win, the champions received Rs200,000—the largest cash prize in Nepal’s rugby history—while the runners-up, Tribhuvan Army Club, took home Rs100,000. Javed Hussain, an Indian player from Gorkhali Rugby, was named the best player of the tournament.

Earlier on Saturday, Army defeated Karnali Province 17-12 in the semi-finals. The match was tied 12-12 at the end of regulation time. Karnali missed a crucial conversion opportunity in the final moments, allowing Army to secure their place in the final with a golden score during extra time.

In the second semi-final, host team Gorkhali Rugby easily defeated APF Club 29-0. Gorkhali dominated from the beginning, delivering a one-sided performance.
