Nepal has been selected as the host of the 2025 ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier, set to take place from April 12 to April 21, 2025.
The Asia Qualifier is one of the five regional qualifier tournaments to determine the final five teams for the 2026 U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, with Africa Qualifier, European Qualifier, East-Asia Pacific Qualifier and Americas Qualifier being the other four competitions.
One team from each (five) region will qualify for the main event.
“Nepal has been selected as the host nation for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier 2025,” the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) said in a press release on Saturday.
The Asia Qualifier will feature Nepal (hosts), Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. The teams will vie for one spot in the 2026 U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
“This event marks a significant milestone for cricket in Nepal, and the nation looks forward to welcoming these teams and showcasing its passion for the sport on an international stage,” the cricket governing body added.
With home support, Nepal will look to qualify for the World Cup for a consecutive time after featuring in the 2024 ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa. Nepal had topped the six-team table remaining unbeaten to secure their ticket to the 2024 World Cup—their first World Cup in eight years.
In South Africa, Nepal had pulled off a thrilling one-wicket victory over Test member Afghanistan in the group stage to progress to the Super Six.
The 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.
