Powerlifting from Sept 25

Nepal Youth Fitness and Calisthenics (NYFC) is set to organise first Nationwide Powerlifting Championships NYFC 2023 on September 25 and 26 at the National Sports Council covered hall.
The event will be held in four different categories including men’s open, women’s open, junior and masters’, informed NYFC President Sukadev Karki at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The men’s open category will have five weight divisions including below 62kg, 62.1kg to 69kg, 69.1kg to 77kg, 77.1kg to 85kg, and above 85kg. The women’s open will feature below 58kg, 58.1kg to below 64kg and above 64kg weight divisions.
The juniors’ event will see competition between under 21 years age category lifters. The masters event will have men’s competition in the above 45 years age division and women’s above 40 years age division.
According to NYFC, altogether 162 players have registered for the event. The top three finishers of each weight and age divisions will be rewarded with purse of Rs15,000, Rs10,000 and Rs5,000 respectively along with medals, trophies and gift hampers.
The best player in the men’s and women’s category will be given the crown of Strongest Athlete of Nepal and a purse of Rs25,000 apart from medals and trophies. The expected cost of the event is Rs1.7 million. Pintola, an all natural peanut butter product, is the main sponsor of the event.
