Golfers to train in India for Asian Games

Six Nepali golfers including two female players are leaving for Bangalore, India, on Saturday to finetune their preparations for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.
Nepal number 1 pro Sukra Bahadur Rai, number 1 amateur Subash Tamang, amateurs Sadbhav Acharya and Yuvaraj Bhujel are the male players to train at the Tarun Sardesai Golf Academy in Kohlar, Bangalore. Amateurs Kashmira Shah and Susma Sigdel are the female players to train. Deepak Acharya, also a member of Nepal Golf Association (NGA) will accompany the team as coach.
According to NGA, the Nepali team will train for three months in Bangalore before competing in the Asian Games. Rai, currently training in Dresden, Germany, will join the training camp in India after a month.
The Nepali players will also compete in an 18-hole tournament each week as part of the preparation for Asian Games. Amateurs Tamang and Acharya will also participate in the Singapore Amateur Open to be held at Orchid Country Club from July 15 to 19.

Member Secretary Ghising said that the NSC will make arrangements for a full scholarship for the Nepali golf team. “I thank NGA for making arrangements for a long training programme focusing on Asian Games. NSC will support other games as well if they come up with an ideal proposal for training,” said Ghising.
Urging the players to focus on medals at the Asian Games, Ghising said: “You only take care of medals, NSC will take care of your other necessities.”
NGA President Ghale thanked NSC for making arrangements of golf equipment (clubs) according to the weight of amateurs duo Tamang and Acharya.
