The team of pro, Dinesh Prajapati clinched the Pro-am title of the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship at par-72 Gokarna Golf Club, Kathmandu, on Saturday.

Pro Prajapati teamed along with amateurs Samir Acharya, Pratap Bohara, and Arjun Kumar Karki collected 162 points, in total. While Prajapati and Acharya scored an equal 41 points, Bohara and Karki scored 40 points apiece.

The team of pro Bhuwan Nagarkoti secured a second place finish with a total of 153 points. Nagarkoti scored 38 points while his amateur teammates Tashi Tshiring contributed 39 points, while Ujjwal Pradhananga and Sunil Karki collected 38 points each.

The team of pro Bal Bhadra Rai secured third position with 151 points. Rai scored 37 points and amateurs Bhairaja Pandey, Kalsang Lodhe Sherpa and Raju Thakali, all contributed 38 points each.

Rekha Ghimire was the best individual scorer in the women’s category on count back after being tied with Aaiesteena Tandan at 34 points. Ghimire scored 18 on the back-nine against 17 of Tandan.

Mandeep KC took home the longest drive award and Bhairaja Pandey secured the closest to the pin award.

Altogether 135 players including 25 pros took part in the Pro-Am event played under stableford 3/4 handicap format. Top pro scorer was automatically teamed with the top three amateurs for the winning team. Similarly, fourth, fifth and sixth amateur scorers were teamed with the second-best professional for the runner-up team and those amateurs finishing seventh, eighth and ninth were teamed up with the third-best professional for the second runner-up team.

Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd managing director Ravi Kumar Rayavaram, corporate vice president Ravi KC and Professional Golfers Association Nepal president Rabindra Man Shrestha among others gave prizes to the winners.

The pro-am event was followed by Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship that concluded on Friday. Amateur golfer Subash Tamang, the twin gold medalist of the 13th South Asian Games, claimed the title with 21-under 267 in the 72-hole event.
