New Diamond Youth Sports Club and defending champions Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club advanced into the final with a match in hand after both teams pulled off second victories in a row at the National Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Sunday.
New Diamond overcame the first set deficit to beat Nepal Club in 3-1 set in the late fixture at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu. APF registered straight sets victory over departmental rival Tribhuvan Army Club.
After losing the first set 22-25, New Diamond registered 25-15, 25-22, 25-19 wins in the next three sets. New Diamond spiker Pratibha Mali was declared the player of the match.
APF registered a thumping 25-17, 25-21, 25-15 win over Army. Niruta Thagunna of the winning team was declared the player of the match. The player-of-the-match of both games received Rs10,000 each.

The outcome of the four-team tournament meant that New Diamond and APF progressed to the final with a match in hand of equal six points.
Both the Army and Police are yet to open accounts in the standings and crashed out with a match in hand. The top two teams at the group stage will vie in the final.
New Diamond’s outcome against APF scheduled for Monday will determine the group toppers while the winners between Police and Army will earn a third-place finish in the group stage. New Diamond and APF will vie in the final on Tuesday while Police and New Diamond will compete for third-place honours on the same day.
