Police progress into semis as group winners

Nepal Police Club’s women’s team advanced into the semi-finals of the seventh NVA National Women’s and Men’s Club Volleyball Championship as the group winners on Thursday.
Police overcame a challenge from holders New Diamond 25-22, 22-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-10 at the NSC’s covered hall in Tripureshwor to collect eight points from three matches.
New Diamond, who have seven points, also went through as the group runners-up.
APF Club also marched on from Group B with a comfortable 25-4, 25-6, 25-3 victory over Krishna Secondary Academy. APF will take on Tribhuvan Army Club on Friday in a match that will decide the winner and runners-up of the group.
In men’s action, Help Nepal defeated Madhesh Province 25-18, 25-22, 25-8 to advance into the quarter-finals. A third win in as many matches gives Help Nepal nine points in Group D.
Keshav Lal Memorial Volleyball Training Centre of Bagmati Province also qualified for the quarters as group runners-up after they saw off Budhanilkantha Volleyball Club 27-25, 25-18, 25-16. Keshav Lal Memorial have six points after two wins and a loss.
In Group C, Gandaki Province secured their spot in the quarters as group runners-up after a 25-12, 25-9, 25-10 win over Dhorpatan Sports Club gave them six points from three matches.
Unbeaten Nepal Police Club have already qualified as the group winners from the group.
