Twin wins for Army, Police

Departmental sides Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club secured victories in both the men’s and women’s matches of the Seventh NVA National Women’s and Men’s Club Volleyball Championships that kicked off on Sunday.
In the men’s division, Army saw off Dawali Milan Club, comprising three Indian players, in straight sets—25-20, 25-21, 25-21—in their Group ‘A’ game played at the Dasharath Stadium’s covered hall. Mani Mukunda Club is the other team in the group.

Police also registered a straight set win over Newton Volleyball Academy, who are marking their debut in the tournament, in the men’s category. Police pulled off a 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 victory. In the women’s section, they saw off Samajik Youth Club of Nayabazar 25-10, 25-6, 25-8.
The tournament, organised by Nepal Volleyball Association, features 15 teams in the men’s section and eight in the women’s section. The winners of both the men’s and women’s categories will be rewarded with a purse of Rs400,000 while the runner-up will walk away with Rs200,000. The second runner-up will get Rs100,000.
