Spanish club Cacereno to play two friendlies in Nepal

Spanish football club Polideportivo Cacereno will play two friendly matches in Nepal on December 28 and 29, the organisers Lumbini Garden Foundation said on Thursday.
Cacereno, who are based in Caceres, play in Segunda Division RFEF Group 4, the fourth tier of the Spanish football league system.
The club will play against Gandaki XI on December 28 at the Pokhara Stadium and wrap up their tour by taking on the Kathmandu XI on December 29, Foundation’s General Secretary Ekraj Giri said.
Former Nepali national captains Anil Gurung and Biraj Maharjan will lead Gandaki XI and Kathmandu XI, respectively, in the two friendlies.
Rajendra Taman will coach Gandaki XI, while Megh Raj KC will manage the Kathmandu XI.

The 57-year-old who made his senior debut with Cacereno in the 1982-83 season at the age of 17, is known for his successful stint with La Liga club Atletico Madrid, scoring as many as 76 goals in 219 appearances.
Manolo also represented the Spanish national side in the 1992 FIFA World Cup. He scored nine goals in 28 outings with Spain.
“We expect the friendlies to be a very thrilling competition,” said Foundation Vice-president Govinda Subedi. “We also request the spectators to come to the stadiums to watch the friendlies.”
