Shivali Gurung clinches U-14 ATF girl singles’ title

Shivali Gurung clinched the girls’ singles title of the 20th Jayakar Memorial Under-14 ATF Tournament, Circuit 1, on Saturday.
Gurung defeated her compatriot Adya Poudyal in the straight sets of 6-4, 6-1 in the final at the Satdobato tennis court.
It is Gurung’s second gold of the competition, having also won the girls’ doubles title. Earlier, Gurung and Swastika Bista had defeated the pair of Prasamsa Moktan and Poudyal 6-4, 6-2 to win the doubles gold on Friday.
In the boys' doubles final, the Indian duo of Siddharth Jeebu and Vivaan Mirda defeated the pair of Pakistan’s Zohaib Afzal Malik and Yemen’s Hamood Eyad 6-4, 6-4 to secure the trophy.
Mirda also won the boys’ singles title on Friday after he overcame a challenge from Nepal’s Aayushman Hajur Ghale to win the final 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-2.
A total of 43 players including 26 boys and 17 girls participated in the six-day event.
