Surya Nepal Challenge tees off today

Surya Nepal Challenge, the sixth event under Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2021-22, will tee off on Tuesday at the Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu.
The four day event to conclude on April 22 will be played over 72 holes, said Deepak Acharya, the general secretary of organiser Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA) at a press conference on Monday.
Altogether, 56 golfers, including 36 professionals and 20 amateurs, will compete in the event.
Almost all the participants on Monday played a practice round on the course to acclimatise with course conditions. Nepal No 1 pro Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Jayram Shrestha, Sanjay Lama and Rabi Khadka are among the top contenders. Pro Sukra Bahadur Rai will miss the event as he is currently on a professional tour in India. Amateur Subash Tamang, who won the last event–Western Open, is also among the contenders.
The event carries a total purse of Rs545,000 with the winner taking away a purse of Rs100,000. The runner up will take home Rs65,000 and the third-place finisher will get Rs46,000. Other pros in the top 21 positions will also get cash prizes.
