Lumbini stun APF
Bhawana and Saraswati’s pair beat the departmental giants 21-17, 21-13 in the beach volleyball quarter-finals.

Lumbini Province stunned departmental giants Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club in the quarter-final of the first Sanjay Memorial National Women's Beach Volleyball Tournament on Friday to set up the ultimate title clash with the Nepal Police Club.
Lumbini comprising Bhawana Dangi and Saraswati Kattel registered a straight-set victory over APF at Ranimahal in Palpa. Dangi and Kattel's pair edged the departmental team's duo of Reshma Bhandari and Niruta Thangunna 21-17, 21-13.
In the semi-final, Lumbini saw off Sudurpaschim Province's pair of Bhagrathi Joshi and Babita Bohara 21-17, 21-14. Lumbini will vie against another departmental team Police in the summit clash on Saturday.
Police team comprising Kamala Pun and Manisha Chaudhary saw off Gandaki Province's duo of Pabitra BC and Rebina Gharti Magar 21-19, 21-14 in the semi-final. In the quarter-final, Police thumped Province 1 team of Anjana Limbu and Prachi Gautam 21-1, 21-6.
The losing semi-finalists — Gandaki and Sudurpaschim — will also vie in the third-place playoff.
In the quarter-final, Gandaki pulled off a 21-12, 21-23, 15-8 victory over Karnali Province consisting of Aahara Kumari Shahi and Hira Jaisi. Meanwhile, Sudurpaschim had edged Bagmati Province 21-8, 21-7 in the last eight clash.
The three-day tournament being played in the league cum knockout format features nine teams including seven provincial along with APF and Police. The top three teams of the tournament will get a purse of Rs100,000, Rs50,000 and Rs30,000 respectively. The best player of the tournament will be rewarded Rs20,000.
