Rai’s team win Pro-Am title

Pro golfer Bal Bhadra Rai's team clinched the Surya Nepal Western Open Pro-Am title at the par-68 Himalayan Golf Course in Pokhara on Friday.
Rai paired with amateurs Phursang Lama, Raju Thakali and Kabi Thapa and finished with 148 points to secure first position. Rai scored 36 points, Lama 38 points while Thakali and Thapa collected 37 points apiece.
Pro Bhuwan Nagarkoti (35 points) and amateurs Badri Rai (36 points) and Kishor Basnet and Jhalendra Bhattarai (34 points each) finished second with 139 points.
Pro Sanjay Lama (33 points) and amateurs Sushma Sigdel (33 points), Arsiya Banu (33 points) and Suresh Baniya (32 points) accumulated 131 points to finish third.
Damber Ghale secured closest to the pin, Rupendra Gurung longest drive and Durga Kumari Shah special prize for hole-in-one on the 13th hole.
Altogether 80 players, including 10 pros, took part in the Pro-Am event played under stableford full handicap format.
Meanwhile, Nepal Golf Association president Tashi Ghale handed over Rs100,000 and 1,000 golf balls to the Youth Development Committee of Kaski District.
