Former FIFA referee Laba Khatri died on Monday in Kusunti, Lalitpur. The 49-year-old was rushed to Nepal Mediciti Hospital in Nakkhu after collapsing in his bathroom on Monday morning. He had suffered a head injury.
Khatri was among one of the best referees Nepali football fraternity had ever had. He retired in 2018 due to age restriction. He was general secretary of the referee committee at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and also a referee instructor.
As a footballer, he played top division football of the country from Jawalakhel Youth Club, Three Star Club, Friends Club and Brigade Boys Club.
He is survived by a wife and a son.
