Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) Academy and Kathmandu District Boxing Association jointly conducted a session on boxing reporting in Kathmandu on Friday.
The training was organised on the occasion of International Boxing Day. A total of 46 sports journalists had participated in the mentorship programme, which was led by Anup Lama.
The academy was launched in March this year by the NSJF aiming to help sports writers and journalists across the country to properly cover various sports disciplines.
NSJF chief Durganath Subedi hoped the interaction would inform sports journalists on the technical aspects of boxing.
Academy coordinator Niranjan Adhikari said the coaching was a part of the academy's "Know your Game" series, which aims to update journalists on various sports disciplines from time to time.
The academy has already organised writing workshops on volleyball and mountain sports.
National Sports Council (NSC) member secretary Ramesh Kumar Silwal expressed his confidence that such programmes will help sports journalists accurately report sports-related issues in the country.
International Boxing Day, first observed in 2017, used to be celebrated on July 22 every year. The International Boxing Association (AIBA) moved the Day to August 27 in July this year to connect the date with the first edition of the AIBA World Championships, held in Havana, Cuba in 1974.
