Bhuwan Nagarkoti and Niraj Tamang shared lead after the first round in the Dharan Open Golf Tournament at the Par-70 Dharan Golf Club, in Dharan on Wednesday.

Both Nagarkoti and Tamang fired three-under 67 on the opening day of the second event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2020-21.

Bal Bhadra Rai, Sukra Bahadur Rai, and Jayaram Shrestha shot even-par 70. Surya Prasad Sharma carded one-over 71. Deepak Acharya, Sanjay Lama, Krishna Man Rajbahak, and Amateur Yubraj Bhujel scored two-over 72. Rabi Khadka and Dinesh Prajapati carded three-over 73. Deepak Magar, Rame Magar, and Pashupati Sharma were at four-over 74.

Nepal number one Nagarkoti carded five under 31 on the front nine with the help of birdies on second, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth holes. On the back nine, he made birdie on 10th hole but dropped shot on the 14th and suffered double-bogey on the 17th hole for two-over 36.

Thirteenth South Asian Games gold medallist Tamang made birdies on fourth, sixth, seventh and ninth holes for four-under 32 on the front nine. On the back nine, he made birdies on 12th and 16th holes but made bogeys on 13th, 17th and 18th holes for one-over 35.

Another South Asian Games gold medallist Rai one-over 37 on the front nine with birdies on fifth and sixth holes against bogeys on first, fourth and ninth holes. On the back nine, he made birdies on 11th and 12th holes against bogey on the 10th hole for one-under 33.
