Dish Media extends deal for Sports Award
The NSJF will award a team and individuals in 10 different categories including male, female, youth and coach of the year on the basis of their performance in the past year.Sports Bureau
Dish Media Network Limited has extended the co-sponsorship deal for NSJF Pulsar Sports Award to be held on January 12 in Satdobato, Lalitpur.
Dish Media, the broadcast and transmission service operator, will provide support worth Rs 1.1 million to the NSJF for the Award including Rs700,000 in cash and gifts to the winners of the award. The award will be branded as Sports Award Powered by Dish Media Network.
The winners of nine different categories will get connections and free recharge for two years while the nominees will get one-year recharge and connection.
After striking the deal, Dish Media managing director Sudip Acharya said the Award programme will be helpful for the growth of sports in the country. “Despite the unfavourable economic condition caused by the pandemic, we decided to give continuity to the sponsorship and we will support the noble cause in the days to come,” said Acharya.
Nepal Sports Journalists Forum vice president Sanjeeb Silpakar thanked Dish Media for the continuity of the sponsorship despite difficulties created by Covid-19 pandemic. “The event has got the recognition of national award and this time we will definitely have a challenge to host it semi-virtually,” he said.
The NSJF will award a team and individuals in 10 different categories including male, female, youth and coach of the year on the basis of their performance in the past year (2076 BS). Other categories include para-athlete, people’s choice, lifetime achievement and special and team of the year awards. Asian Sports Journalists award will also be given during the ceremony.
There will be five nominees each in male, female, coach, youth and peoples’ choice categories while the winners of lifetime, special award, para-athlete, team of the year and international journalists will be directly revealed during the award function.
Lifetime achievement award will be presented to a sportsperson for his/her long-term contribution towards sports and the special award will be presented for special achievement and contribution to sports.
Nominations for peoples’ choice award have already been made and the winner among them will be declared on the basis of votes received through eSewa, Facebook likes, votes received from organiser Nepal Sports Journalists Forum members and chief coaches of sports associations. The NSJF selection committee will pick the winners of the other categories.
The winners of the male, female, coach and peoples’ choice will get motorcycles while the winners of other categories will be given Rs 50,000 each along with gift hampers.
