Tea Valley, Hooligans in NBL 3x3 East finals
The six-team finals will be held in Birtamode on Tuesday.Sports Bureau
Tea Valley claimed the Birtamode leg of the NBL 3x3 East title defeating BTM Hooligans 18-12 in the final in Jhapa on Sunday.
The completion of the Birtomode leg meant the lineup for the East final has been finalized on Sunday. Tea Valley and Hooligans joined top two teams from Biratngar leg the Eastern Swish and Bal Kalyan Vidhya Mandir as well as top two from Dharan leg Itahari leg Stags and Horizon in the finals.
The six-team finals will be held in Birtamode on Tuesday. The teams have been divided into two pools of three with top two sides making it to the knockout stages. Swish, Horizon and Tea Valley are in one group and the rest in another group.
Nine teams were in fray for two berths available in the Birtamode leg of the tournament. Tea Valley pipped Green City Ilam Basketball Club 10-9 and Hooligans saw off Temple School ‘B’ 10-6 in the semi-finals.
In the final, Ganesh Raj Subedi was the star performer for Tea Valley scoring almost all his team’s total in their 18-12 win. Subedi poured in 16 points alone in the final. A total of 27 teams from three cities took part in the tournament played at the half court. Each game lasted for 10 minutes.
The eventualchampions on Tuesday will walk away with Rs 50,000 while the runners-up willreceive Rs 25,000. Organised by Play for Deprived Children Nepal, the NBL 3x3West will also be held in three cities—Pokhara, Butwal and Dhangadi. The formatof the tournament will be the same as the NBL East.
