Babu Sherpa registered two-stroke victory over Colonel Avaneesh Chambial to clinch the third edition of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal at Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday.

Playing with eight handicap, Sherpa scored seven-under 65 while Chambial carded five-under 67 to finish runner-up. Prabhakar Adhikari was third at four-under 68. Wangchen Dhondup was the gross winner with one-under 71 and Sadbhav Acharya was junior winner with one-under 71 in the event played under stroke play format with full handicap..

Ten medal rounds will be played until December for the club championship. In each medal round top 10 players in nett category, top 5 players in gross category, and top 5 in the junior category are awarded points. Winners in nett category from each event earn 100 points, runner up 60 points, 40 points for third place, 35 points for fourth place, 30 points for fifth place sixth to tenth position finishers receive 25,20,15,10 and 5 points respectively.

The top five scorers in gross and junior category earn 100, 60, 40, 35 and 30 points respectively. Top 40 players of nett category, top 10 of gross category and top five of junior category will qualify for their category of club championships. The final of club championship will be played over 2 rounds early next year.

After the third edition of the club championship, Babu Sherpa and Joseph Nathan are at the top with 105 points each in the nett category. Wangchen Dhondup leads the gross category with 195 points ahead of his brother Tashi Tsering (180). Sadbhav Acharya is on top of junior category with 200 points ahead of Ang Phurba (140).
