Manandhar, Nepal clinch singles titles

Adrit Nepal and Pranja Manandhar claimed U-9 singles titles of the 16th Jayakar Memorial National Junior Tennis Championships at the National Sports Council in Tripureshwar on Wednesday.
Nepal saw off Sparsha Timalsina Chhetri 4-0, 5-4, 9-7 in the boys’ final while Manandhar edged past Mala Maskey 4-2, 4-0 in the girls’ title clash. The U-10 boy’s singles semi-finals saw Nishad Joshi beat Borish Adhikari 6-7 (6), 6-2, 10-7 and Samman Basnet eased past Abir Sriwastab 6-3, 6-4.
In the U-12 boy’s singles, Pranab Manandhar dispatches Slok Kazar Khadka 6-1, 6-4, Ayushman Hajur Ghale beat Rajbir Pradhan 2-6, 6-3, 10-8, Saroj Tamang thumped Saksham Shah 6-3, 6-2 and Hriddik Karki beat Rushat Arora 7-6 (8), 6-1 to book semi-final berths. Arav Samrat Hada earned a semi-final berth in the U-14 boy’s singles beating Saugat BK 6-2, 6-2 while Aryan Giri enjoyed walkover win. The duo will be joined in to the last-four by Chiraj Timalsina and Pritam Pariyar. Timalsina thumped Sreyas Paudel 6-0, 6-1 and Pritam Pariya inflicted a double bagel defeat on Prasidda Moktan.
Samriddhi Maharjan made it to the U-10 girl’s singles final after her opponent Arnika Thapa retired hurt in the first set. Maharjan was leading 6-2. She will meet the winner of the match between Pratishtha Lama and Sauravi Dhakal in the final.
In the girls’ doubles, Aja Regmi and Subhanghi Laxmi Shah dispatched Prasansa Moktan and Aadhya Paudel 6-0, 6-0 to enter the final. The other semi-final was stopped due to bad light. The boy’s doubles semi-finals match saw, Chirag Timalsina and Rajbir Pradhan beat Pritam Pariyar and Ayushman Hajur Ghale 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. The duo will meet Aarav Samrat Hada and Pranab Manandhar, who got a walkover win in their semi-final match.
