Nepal secured their berth for the semifinal of the Saff Championship after defeating hosts Bangladesh 2-0 on Saturday.

Bimal Gharti Magar opened the scoring in the 32^nd minute when his free kick was misjudged by Bangladeshi goalkeeper and spilled into the post. Nawayug Shrestha ensured the victory and the place in the semifinal in the 90^th minute when he slammed Bishal Rai’s pass into the net.

Nepal also topped their group with the victory and will now play against the second-placed team of the other group. India, Sri Lanka and Maldives are in Group B.

Pakistan also qualified into the semifinal after their 3-0 victory against Bhutan in a match played earlier. Bhutan returned home after conceding nine goals and scoring none.
