Nepal has not received the USD 25,000 prize of the championship which it had won in January 2016. Nepal had trounced Bahrain 3-0 in the championship and clinched the championship title.
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) spokesperson Kiran Rai said that Nepal has not got the prize money even when the tie-sheet for fifth edition of the championship has been announced.
"We will not participate in the next championship if we are not given the prize that we won last time," said Rai.
Bangabandhu International Goldcup Football Championship was the first international championship won by Nepal after the gap of 23 years.
Bangladesh Football Federation has been organising the championship in memory of Bangladesh's father of the nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The fifth edition of the championship will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from October 1 to 27.
Nepal is paced in Group 'A' of the championship as per the tie-sheet announced on Saturday. Palestine and Tajikistan are also in Group A. The hosts Bangladesh, Laos and Philippines are in Group 'B'. RSS
