President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Sunday hosted a reception to the national cricket team in an honour to their historical One Day International (ODI) outings.
Nepal played their first ever ODI against the hosts Netherlands on August 1, which they lost. But the team returned home levelling the two-match series after wining the second on August 3. They earned the coveted status via ICC World Cup Qualifiers in March.
“I have been monitoring the Nepali cricket through media reports and its a game with immense potential. Concerned authorities must make sure the recent achievement does not go in vain. I urge all the stakeholders to solve the current deadlock in cricket administration to pave way for proliferation of cricket,” said the President.
Nepal cricket has been under crisis, in terms of governance, since April 25, 2016 after the International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended the AN membership blaming government interference and disputed elections. (PR)
