Danilo, Bernardo Silva and Fernandinho scored to ensure Pep Guardiola’s team suprass the 95-point tally set by Chelsea under Jose Mourinho in 2004/05 season.
City also suprassed Chelsea’s 103 goals in a season after reaching 105 goals with still a game to play. The Premier League champions can finish as the first team to reach 100 points in English top-flight if they defeat Southampton on Sunday.
The new record follows by equaling most number of wins in a season set by Chelsea last term. City now have 31 victories from 37 games, passing the 30 wins registered by Antonio Conte’s Chelsea last season.
Chelsea, meanwhile, were held to a draw by Huddersfield Town who ensured another season in the top-flight and left Swansea City on brink of relegation. Laurent Depoitre gave Huddersfield the lead before Marcos Alonso levelled for Chelsea. Chelsea dominated possession but could not find a winner.
Arsenal’s form in away games continued to slump to 3-1 defeat at Leicester City. Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez scored for Leicester. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored for Arsenal.
Tottenham ensured Champions League for next season after a crucial 1-0 victory against Newcastle with Harry Kane scoring the only goal of the game.
