Nepali young leg spinning sensation Sandeep Lamichhane’s jersey for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) has been made public on Thursday.
Nepal Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista in the presence of a representative of Delhi Daredevils unveiled the jersey amid a programme organised at Hotel Annapurna in Kathmandu this evening. Lamichhane will wear jersey number 1 during the league.
Though Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was supposed to unveil the jersey, he could not come to the jersey unveiling programme due to his busy schedule.
IPL team Delhi Daredevils had bought Nepali spinner Lamichhane for the 11th edition of the T20 cricket competition.
Lamichhane is the first cricketer from Nepal to feature in an IPL franchise when Delhi Dardevils bought the 17-year-old leg-spinner for a base price of INR 2 million (Rs 3.2 million).
Lamichhane had made the headlines as Nepal’s Shane Warne during the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup.
