Khanal, Bajracharya to vie for U-18 singles title
Pranav Khanal and Samrakshyak Bhusan Bajracharya advanced into the U-18 boys’ singles final of the 15th Jayakar Memorial National Junior Tennis Tournament at the Satdobato tennis court on Thursday.

Khanal raced to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Samyak Bhusan Bajracharya to set the title date with Samrakshyak. Samrakshyak inflicted a double bagel defeat on Ninwam Rai in another semi-final clash. In the U-18 girls’ singles, Mayanka Rana pipped her younger sister Mahika 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. Mayanka will meet Prerana Koirala in the summit clash.
Adit Subedi and Nisan Shrestha set the U-14 boys’ singles title date. Subedi rallied from a set down to beat Aryan Giri 1-6, 7-5, 6-0 and Shrestha saw off Saroj Tamang 7-5, 6-3. In U-10 boys’ singles semi-finals, Aarav Samrat Hada ousted Rajbir Pradhan 6-1, 6-1 and Pranav Manandhar beat Saksham Bikram Shah 7-5, 6-3.
Prasamsha Moktan and Sunira Thapa made it to the U-9 girls’ singles final. Moktan beat Adya Paudel 0-4, 4-1, 4-2 and Thapa thrashed Jenny Khadka 4-0, 4-1. In the U-9 boys’ singles semi-finals, Saksham Bikram Shah raced to 4-1, 4-0 win over Nishad Joshi and Ayushman Hajur Ghale pull off a 0-4, 5-4, 4-2 win over Rajbir Pradhan.
In the U-10 girls’ singles semi-final match Eva Adhikari beat Sunira Thapa 6-0, 6-3. Mayanka and Mahika combined to storm into the U-18 girls’ doubles final after a 6-1, 6-3 win over Prerana Koirala and Shubhangee Laxmi Shah. The Rana sisters will meet Bijisha Shrestha and Abhilasha Bista in the final after the latter dispatched Isha Shree Shah and Sharvani Shrestha 6-1, 6-1.
In the U-18 boys’ doubles semi-finals, Bajracharya brothers Samrakshyak Bhusan and Samyak Bhusan thumped Saroj Tamang and Safal Shrestha 6-0, 6-1. The duo will meet Pranav Khanal-Adit Subedi in the final as they overcome Kubhehang Chemjong and Nischal Adhikari 6-2, 6-0 in other semi-final match.
