Lalit Memorial kicks off today

A total of 13 teams will participate in the league-cum-knockout tournament organised in the memory of former Anfa acting president and Three Star president Lalit Krishna Shrestha.
Youth teams from the 12 ‘A’ Division clubs and four National League outfits will be competing in the tournament that offers a cash purse of Rs 300,000 to the eventual champions.
The runners-up will get Rs 150,000, while each team were provided with a preparation amount of Rs 100,000. The best individuals—striker, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper and coach—will also get Rs 10,000 apiece. The teams have been divided in four groups with the top two making it to the quarter-finals.
Group ‘A’ consists of Jhapa XI, Nepal Armed Police Force Club, Saraswoti Youth Club and Chyasal Youth Club. Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Friends Club, Manang Marshyangdi Club and Farwest FC are in Group ‘B’ with Group ‘C’ pitting Lumbini FC, Jawalakhel Youth Club, Himalayan Sherpa Club and New Road Team.
Sankata, Nepal Police Club, Brigade Boys Club and Morang FC are in Group ‘D’. Jhapa will take on newly promoted Chyasal in the tournament opener. TAC will take on Farwest in the second game.
