Golden Gate, NCC enter semi-finals

Golden Gate registered a thumping 115-run win over K&K College and NCC overcame Shahid Smarak College by 23 runs in the twenty20 tournament. Put to bat, Golden Gate posted a mammoth 205-8 before restricting K&K for 90 runs in 17.5 overs. Golden Gate openers Bijay Gautam (36) and Rabin Joshi (20) put up 40-run stand for the first wicket to lay the foundation for the big total.
Man-of-the-match Prashanna Shakya then hammered 38 off 14 balls to help post the big total. Suman Uday (36) and Indrakamal Manandhar (not out 29) also contributed to the Golden Gate total. Ram Bhattarai took two wickets for K&K College.
In reply, K&K were never in contention after losing wickets at regular intervals. No 8 batsman Amrit KC top scored for K&K with 20. Rijan Dhakal claimed three while Avinash Bashyal and Sanjay Basnet took two wickets each for Golden Gate.
In another match of the day, NCC posted 141-9 and restricted Shahid Smarak for 118-8 in 20 overs. Lower-order batsman Lokendra Chand cracked unbeaten 42 off 19 balls to give respectability to the NCC total. Ashis Khadka and Tek Bahadur Salami claimed three wickets apiece for Shahid Smarak.
Biswash Shrestha top scored for Shahid Smarak with 38 runs and opener Tek Bahadur Salami chipped in 20 in a hapless batting performance. Nabin Thapa took thee and Pawan Shrestha two wickets for NCC.
