Pentagon College claimed the Inter-college Super Cup indoor cricket tournament on Tuesday.

In the final match at the Ultimate Indoors, Pentagon beat Rajarshi Janak College by 13 runs. Bolstered by the inclusion of national team opener Naresh Budhayer, Pentagon piled up 129 in 18 overs and restricted Rajarshi for 116 runs.

Dipendra Mainali top scored for Pentagon with 26 runs and Budhayer chipped in 21. National U-19 cricketer Arun Airee picked up three wickets for Rajarshi. Airee was also the leading scorer for Rajarshi making 20 runs but his effort was not enough to hand his side the title.

Sudarshan Joshi (16) was the other Rajarshi batsman to show some grit. Mainali was adjudged the man-of-the-final having also picked up one wicket. The winning team were rewarded with the cash purse of Rs 100,000.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Rajarshi had defeated Kathmandu College of Management by 32 runs on a back of allround performance from man-of-the-match Sandeep Zora, who will play for Kathmandu Goldens in the upcoming Dhangadi Premier League.

Pentagon had won their semi-final against Triton International College after the latter forfeited the game. Pentagon’s Mainali walked away with man-of-the-series award and got Rs 10,000. Budhayer and Prakash Bista of Kaustuv were named the best batsman and bowler respectively. They got Rs 5,000 apiece.

A total of 16 teams had participated in the league-cum-knockout tournament organised by Panda Events in association with Ultimate Indoors Pvt Ltd. The tournament carried highest cash prize in country’s indoor cricket.
