A 24-member preliminary Nepali squad was announced on Thursday for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) matches against Kenya.A 24-member preliminary Nepali squad was announced on Thursday for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) matches against Kenya.
The selection committee headed by ICC representative Venkatapathi Raju, Nepal head coach Jagat Tamatta and Nepal skipper Paras Khadka trimmed the squad from the initial 52 players. The cut was made after observing the perfomance of the players who were devided into four groups to play super league games. Nepal hosts Kenya at the TU stadium on March 11 and 13.
Apart from Khakda, others to make the cut in the 24-member team include Gyanendra Malla, Md Aarif Sheikh, Amit Shrestha, Sushan Bhari, Dilip Nath, Mehboob Alam, Karan KC, Md Aasif Sheikh, Sagar Pun, Bhuwan Karki, Sharad Vesawkar, Kushal Bhurtel, Bikram Sob, Shakti Prasad Gauchan, Avinash Karn, Sompal Kami, Sunil Dhamala, Dipendra Singh Airee, Basant Regmi, Dipesh Shrestha, Rajesh Pulami Magar, Binod Bhandari and Sandeep Lamichhane.
Top four teams from the WCLC will progress to the 2018 ICC World Cup Qualifiers. Nepal are currently sixth in the eight-team standings.
